Being Updated
People in Spring Branch ISD still know Sherwood Elementary School for its high academic standards. It recently held a popular "Math Pentathlon" that tested students' ability to think strategically. The school is also happy with how well its "Kindness Ambassadors" program has worked; it has helped a lot with behavior issues on campus.
Q1. Is there a "Buddy Program" at Sherwood El where fifth graders help younger kids with reading or math?
Ans. We have a program called "Sherwood Sidekicks" that pairs older and younger students for weekly reading sessions to help them feel more confident and connected to the school.
Q2. What does the "Green Team" club do to celebrate "Earth Day" or get students to recycle?
Ans. Every April, students lead a week-long recycling drive and take part in a campus-wide "Trash-to-Treasure" art contest to help the environment.
Q3. Are there any specific "Artist-in-Residence" programs at Sherwood El that let students work with professional artists?
Ans. Every semester, a local artist comes to lead a mural project for the whole school, giving every student a chance to make their mark.
Q4. Does Sherwood El provide any special help for students who have trouble with social anxiety or moving between classes?
Ans. Our counselor leads "Small Group Social Skills" sessions that teach kids how to deal with their feelings and make friends.
Q5. What is Sherwood El's policy for parents who want to help out in the cafeteria during lunch?
Ans. Once parents have passed the district's standard volunteer background check, they can sign up to be "Lunchroom Helpers."
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
