Being Updated
Ser-Ninos Charter Elementary is still at the top of the list for bilingual schools. They recently added chess and robotics clubs to their after-school enrichment programs to give their students more of a challenge. The school's leaders say that their commitment to keeping class sizes small is helping all of the primary grades do better in school.
Q1. What is the benefit of the dual-language immersion model at Ser-Ninos Charter El?
Ans. Learning to read, write, and speak fluently in both languages helps our students become more flexible and aware of the world around them.
Q2. Does Ser-Ninos Charter El have a summer camp or other program for its current students to help them learn more?
Ans. To keep students busy during the break, we hold a "Summer Explorer" session that focuses on robotics and the arts.
Q3. Are there special support systems at Ser-Ninos Charter El for students who are new to the US?
Ans. Our "Newcomer Support Team" helps new students and their families with language issues and other resources to make sure they have a smooth transition into our school.
Q4. How does Ser-Ninos Charter El make parent-teacher conferences work for parents who have busy work schedules?
Ans. We have flexible meeting times, including early morning and virtual options, so that all parents can talk about how their child is doing.
Q5. Can Ser-Ninos Charter El students play competitive sports like soccer or volleyball?
Ans. Yes, we have a seasonal soccer league that plays against other local charter schools to teach kids how to work together and be good sports.
