The 2026 system-wide turnaround at Houston ISD is helping Moreno El students do better in school by making sure they learn the basics of reading, writing, and math. Recently, the campus held a successful "Community Pride" event that brought together families from the school and businesses in the area. Principal Ruben Pineda is still working hard to make the school better and safer.
Q1. What is the "Moreno Masterpiece" program for young artists?
Ans. Moreno El shows a "Moreno Masterpiece" in the hallway every month to honor outstanding creativity and artistic skill in all.
Q2. Does Moreno El have a program where students learn in two languages?
Ans. Moreno El offers a strong Spanish-English dual-language program that helps students become very biliterate and aware of other cultures.
Q3. What is Moreno El's official school mascot?
Ans. The Dolphin is the proud mascot of Moreno El. It stands for the school's intelligence and willingness to work together.
Q4. Is there an active campus garden project at Moreno El?
Ans. Yes, Moreno El students take care of a garden on campus to learn about biology and nutrition while also learning about being responsible for the environment and other people.
Q5. How can parents keep an eye on their child's schoolwork at Moreno El?
Ans. Parents at Moreno El can use the HISD Connect portal to keep an eye on their child's grades, attendance, and important school-wide academic announcements.
