Liestman El is dedicated to its goal of teaching every child. It recently started new programs to help students get ready for school in 2025–2026. People say that the campus has a place to learn that helps all students do their best and get better. Parents are signing their kids up for school in the spring of 2026–2027 to make sure they get a spot.
Q1. Is there a "Reading Buddies" program at Liestman El?
Ans. Yes, Liestman El pairs older students with younger ones for weekly "Reading Buddies" sessions to help them learn to read and get help from older students.
Q2. What is Liestman El's official mascot?
Ans. The Longhorn is the Liestman El mascot. It stands for the students' strength and proud Texas heritage in their education.
Q3. Is there a "Safety Patrol" for students at Liestman El?
Ans. Liestman El picks responsible fifth graders to be on the "Safety Patrol" to help with traffic in the hallways and getting to school in the morning.
Q4. How does Liestman El talk to parents who don't speak English?
Ans. Liestman El offers translation services in Spanish and Vietnamese for all school communications and parent-teacher meetings for families.
Q5. Does Liestman El have a specific program to raise awareness about the environment?
Ans. Liestman El students are part of a "Recycle Team" that collects paper and plastic for recycling on campus every week.
