Lewis El is glad that it helped HISD's academics by getting rid of a lot of bad grades in the district. The school will hire and keep the best teachers using new pay models based on performance in 2026. The principal and staff keep asking people from the community to come see how well each classroom is "delivering for students."

Ans. The "Lewis Scholars" program gives awards to students who get good grades and never miss a class during each nine-week grading period.
Q2. Is there a chess club for kids in elementary school at Lewis El?
Ans. Yes, Lewis El has a chess club that meets every Friday to help students learn how to think critically and come up with strategies.
Q3. What is the official mascot for Lewis El?
Ans. The Bulldog is the Lewis El mascot. It stands for the students' determination and hard work in reaching their academic goals.
Q4. How does Lewis El get the community involved in the yearly career day?
Ans. Lewis El asks local business owners and professionals to talk to students about different career paths and what they need to do to get there.
Q5. Does Lewis El have a clear policy about school uniforms?
Ans. Lewis El says that students must wear a white or navy polo shirt with khaki or navy blue pants.
