Horne Elementary is now a part of the district's new school system, which gives students more tools and help with their work. The school recently honored its teachers for coming up with new ways to teach reading and math in fun ways. Families say they feel like they belong and are supported, which shows how much the school cares about making sure everyone is safe.
Q1. What is the main goal of the "Horne Hero" character program at Horne El?
Ans. Horne El teaches students to be "Heroes" by being honest, excellent, respectful, and orderly every day.
Q2. Does Horne El help students who are having trouble with math in any special ways?
Ans. Horne El uses "Math Interventionists" to help small groups learn basic skills by using hands-on tools.
Q3. How does Horne El honor the many different backgrounds of its students?
Ans. Horne El has a "Cultural Parade" every year where students and their families share their customs, traditional clothes, and foods from around the world.
Q4. What special rewards are there for Horne El students who read?
Ans. Horne El has a "Book Vending Machine" where students can get free books by doing well in school and behaving well.
Q5. Are there any clubs at Horne El that focus on coding or computer science?
Ans. Horne El has a "Girls Who Code" club and an after-school Scratch programming group for students who want to join.
