Being Updated
Dewberry Elementary entered 2025-26 as one of the district's newer campuses, receiving $10,436 per student in annual spending, the highest among FISD elementary schools. The campus participated in Forney ISD's TSPRA award-winning communications initiatives and the district's broader partnership with the Forney Education Foundation. Forney ISD's esports coordinator Brandon Arnold runs the program at Dewberry, which gives students at the campus structured competitive activity beyond the standard academic calendar.
Q1. When did Dewberry Elementary open, and why was it built?
Ans. Dewberry Elementary opened as part of Forney ISD's November 2019 bond program. The district saved construction costs across multiple building projects, and those savings were enough to add Dewberry as an additional campus to relieve enrollment pressure from the district's other elementary schools. It's a newer facility, and the $10,436 per-student spending it receives is the highest among FISD elementary campuses.
Q2. Does Dewberry Elementary have an esports program?
Ans. Dewberry Elementary participates in Forney ISD's elementary esports program. The school's esports coordinator is Brandon Arnold. Contact the school at (469) 762-4285 for information about participation, schedules, and how students can sign up each semester.
Q3. What parent engagement programs does Dewberry Elementary offer?
Ans. Dewberry Elementary uses ParentSquare for family communication and the Skyward portal for grades and attendance. The school has a PTA and participates in Forney ISD's broader parent engagement events throughout the year. Families looking to get involved can call the front office at (469) 762-4285 to find out what's coming up.
Q4. How does Dewberry Elementary support its economically disadvantaged student population?
Ans. Dewberry Elementary receives the highest per-student spending in Forney ISD at $10,436, which directs additional resources toward academic programs and student support. The school participates in Forney ISD's wraparound services and has DonorsChoose-funded teacher projects that have brought additional classroom materials to students who need them.
Q5. What is the feeder pattern for Dewberry Elementary students?
Ans. Dewberry Elementary students continue to one of Forney ISD's intermediate campuses, then to Brown Middle School or North Forney High School. Dewberry is one of the closest elementary campuses to North Forney High School at 6170 Falcon Way, keeping students in a geographically consistent school community throughout their academic career.
