Language Development Center continued its specialized early childhood language development programming through 2025-26, serving the FM3443 corridor on the outskirts of Eagle Pass. The center holds a "B Good" local school rating and is one of the few EPISD campuses with a specific mandate around language acquisition rather than standard academic content. The Eegle pass Independent School District's bilingual education program and the Language Development Center's work are closely intertwined. This connection provides students with a strong bilingual foundation before they start elementary school.

FAQ

Q1. In what ways is Language Development Center distinct from typical elementary schools?

Ans. The Language Development Center is designed for Early Language Acquisition and Bilingual Development to provide services and support for students who are in Early Education (Head Start, Pre-K and/or Kindergarten). It is not a generic 1-6 campus; rather, its focus is on developing a foundation of English and Spanish languages for our students that will help them as they transition to elementary schools within the Eagle Pass ISD.

Q2. Who can attend Language Development Center?

Ans. Early Language Learners (children ages 3-5) are served at Language Development Center within the Eagle Pass ISD. These students are generally those who will benefit from having a specific focus on Language Development prior to entering 1st grade. The Language Development Center program is designed to set students up for success in both English and Spanish in their Academic Schooling, due to the bilingual nature of the Eagle Pass community as well as the shared border with Mexico.

Q3. How do families apply for enrollment at Language Development Center?

Ans. Families following the Early Childhood Registration process at Eagle Pass ISD will use the same procedures for enrolling their child(ren) at Language Development Center. To check on current enrollment timelines, eligibility or any other questions related to the registration process at Language Development Center, families should contact Eagle Pass ISD directly at eaglepassisd.net, or call the FM3443 campus directly.

Q4. What is the instruction like at Language Development Center?

Ans. The Language Development Center's teaching methods and practices are based on the ideas of Language Acquisition, Pre-Literacy, and Expanded Language Use.

Q5. What happens after students complete the Language Development Center program?

Ans. Students who finish the Language Development Center program transition into their assigned EPISD neighborhood elementary school for 1st grade. The center is designed as a gateway, and its curriculum aligns with the entry expectations at EPISD's 1-6 elementary campuses so that students arrive academically and linguistically prepared.
