Being Updated
Early Childhood Center opened the 2025-26 school year with its 22-teacher, 21-aide staff structure intact, one of the larger instructional teams among EPISD's early childhood campuses. The center's co-location on Kelso Drive with Dena Kelso Graves Elementary creates a natural early childhood pathway for families in the surrounding neighborhoods. EPISD's commitment to bilingual early childhood education runs through all its pre-K and kindergarten programs, including the ECC, which prepares students for the bilingual elementary instruction they'll encounter starting in 1st grade.
Q1. What ages does the Early Childhood Center serve?
Ans. Early Childhood Center in Eagle Pass serves students from Pre-K through kindergarten. It's specifically designed for the youngest learners entering the EPISD system, with a program built around foundational literacy, numeracy, and social development.
Q2. How experienced are the teachers at Early Childhood Center?
Ans. Early Childhood Center has 22 teachers averaging 13 years at this specific campus and 14 years of total teaching experience. That's a very stable teaching team for an early childhood program.
Q3. What programs does Early Childhood Center offer to support language development?
Ans. Early Childhood Center runs a bilingual program aligned with EPISD's district-wide commitment to serving a predominantly Spanish-speaking student community. Language development is a core focus at this level, preparing students for the bilingual instruction they'll encounter when they move into their neighborhood elementary school for 1st grade.
Q4. How do families enroll at Early Childhood Center?
Ans. Enrollment at Early Childhood Center is handled through Eagle Pass Independent School District's early childhood registration process.
Q5. What happens after students finish at Early Childhood Center?
Ans. Students who complete kindergarten at Early Childhood Center transition to their neighborhood elementary school for 1st grade, assigned by EPISD based on their home address. The center's academic preparation is aligned with the 1st grade entry expectations at Armando Cerna, Dena Kelso Graves, Liberty, and the other EPISD elementary campuses.
