There have been discussions regarding West Dallas STEM School within Dallas ISD due to the expanding focus that the school is placing on STEM education in early grades, together with the hands-on approach of teaching facilitated through the Toyota/SMU framework at the school. The campus is known for improving foundational reading and mathematics instruction, combined with project-based approaches to learning in elementary grades. The district’s recent developments mention the involvement of the campus in preparing early learners for STEM in small group settings and in learning communities.
