The Dallas Independent School District pointed out one classroom from Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School that turned learning into an enjoyable activity by implementing a fun unit based on the video game “Super Mario Bros.” The focus of this feature was the use of gaming techniques to increase student participation and enthusiasm in their classes.
Q1. What is the approach taken by the school regarding the ELL program?
Ans. Margaret B. Henderson Elementary offers an ELL program through special instructions, bilingual education, and incorporation in the classroom.
Q2. Are there summer programs for students in the school?
Ans. There are summer programs designed to keep children occupied and help them learn during the vacation in different aspects like reviewing classwork, arts, and STEM related activities.
Q3. What is done on campus to ensure the safety of students?
Ans. The campus has strict safety policies in place which include secure entryways for visitors, monitoring the premises and conducting safety drills in accordance with district regulations.
Q4. Do you have any student leadership or peer mentoring opportunities?
Ans. Students at the school get an opportunity to take up leadership roles in activities like student councils, peer mentoring and being classroom helpers.
Q5. What facilities do you have to help in social emotional development of your students?
Ans. Counseling services and social emotional learning sessions along with small group work sessions are offered in the campus for that.
