FAQ

Q1. Does Henderson Elementary have a GATE program?

Ans. Henderson Elementary does offer a Gifted and Talented Education program through Bryan ISD. If your child's teacher hasn't already started that conversation, the front office at (979) 209-1560 is the right contact. The GT evaluation cycle opens each fall, and applying early in the semester gives families the most time to work through the process.

Q2. What after-school programs run at Henderson Elementary?

Ans. Henderson Elementary is one of the Bryan ISD campuses served by AlphaBEST, which runs enrichment programming after the school day including coding, robotics, art, drama, and fitness alongside homework support. Families should contact the school at (979) 209-1560 to check current availability, as program slots can vary throughout the year.

Q3. What bilingual support does Henderson Elementary provide?

Ans. Henderson Elementary serves a student body that is 90% minority and 87% economically disadvantaged, with a significant share of students from Spanish-speaking households. Bilingual and English Language Development instruction runs through regular classroom delivery at all four grade levels as a core part of how the school operates daily.

Q4. How experienced are the teachers at Henderson Elementary?

Ans. Henderson Elementary has 41 full-time teachers alongside a full-time school counselor, with the teaching staff averaging 8 years of classroom experience. The school also employs instructional support staff across the grade levels. For a campus of 554 students, that staffing depth means students aren't waiting long to get individual attention when they need it.

Q5. What middle school do Henderson Elementary students attend?

Ans. Henderson Elementary students typically feed into one of Bryan ISD's intermediate campuses and then on to a BISD high school. Families should verify the current feeder assignment with the front office at (979) 209-1560, particularly if they're moving into the area and need to map out the full K-12 pathway their child would follow within the district.
