Being Updated
Bonham Elementary made Bryan ISD news in fall 2024 when the Bryan ISD Education Foundation hosted its Grant Palooza kickoff event at the Bonham campus, a district-wide celebration of teacher grant awards that brought drumlines, cheerleaders, and community families to the school. Principal Gloria Garcia-Rhodes continues to lead the campus into 2025-26. AlphaBEST extended learning runs at Bonham after the school day, and the school participates in Bryan ISD's parent and family engagement programming, including workshops and bilingual parent resources across the school year.
Q1. Does Bonham Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Bonham Elementary offers a Gifted and Talented Education program through Bryan ISD. The referral follows the district's fall evaluation timeline, and the classroom teacher is usually the starting point. Families can call (979) 209-3500 to ask about the current cycle and what documentation is typically needed.
Q2. What is the AlphaBEST program at Bonham Elementary?
Ans. Bonham Elementary hosts an AlphaBEST after-school program on campus, which covers coding, robotics, art, drama, Spanish, and fitness alongside homework time. It runs through the school week and is available to enrolled students.
Q3. What bilingual support does Bonham Elementary provide?
Ans. Bonham Elementary serves a predominantly Hispanic student body, and Bryan ISD provides bilingual and English Language Development programming as part of its Title I campus framework. ELD instruction runs during the regular school day as a core component of classroom delivery across all four grade levels.
Q4. What community events does Bonham Elementary participate in?
Ans. Bonham Elementary hosted the Bryan ISD Education Foundation's Grant Palooza kickoff event in fall 2024, a district-wide celebration of teacher grant awards that brought drumlines, cheerleaders, and community families to the school. The campus is involved in Bryan ISD's family engagement calendar, a year-round schedule of events and workshops. Principal Gloria Garcia-Rhodes leads the school's community-facing programming.
Q5. What middle school do Bonham Elementary students attend?
Ans. Bonham Elementary students typically feed into one of Bryan ISD's intermediate campuses and then on to a BISD high school. Families should confirm the current feeder assignment with the front office at (979) 209-3500, especially if they're new to the district, as Bryan ISD periodically reviews boundary assignments.
