Being Updated
Dr E T Boon Elementary entered 2025-26 with a new principal, Jessica Blackburn, appointed directly from her role as assistant principal. Allen ISD formally announced her appointment through the district news system, noting her 14 years of education experience. The school held its Veterans Day campus celebration in November 2025, where veteran family members visited classrooms across the school. Boon's Best Elementary Schools award badge was confirmed for 2024-25, keeping it at #152 in Texas and in the top 5% of all Texas elementary schools on both math and reading.
Q1. Who was Dr. E.T. Boon?
Ans. Dr. E.T. Boon Elementary is named after Dr. E.T. Boon, a former superintendent of Allen ISD who led the district during a pivotal period of growth in the 1970s and 1980s. His leadership helped set the academic culture that Allen ISD is still known for today. The school opened in 2007 and sits on Comanche Drive alongside Flossie Floyd Green Elementary, one of several newer campuses built during Allen's residential expansion.
Q2. Why does Dr E T Boon Elementary rank so high in Texas?
Ans. Boon Elementary ranks #152 in Texas because its academic results are genuinely strong across multiple years of STAAR data. With only 9% economically disadvantaged students, the school's demographic profile contributes to its performance. The school also has 48 full-time teachers and a new principal, Jessica Blackburn, who brought 14 years of experience when appointed to lead the campus.
Q3. Does Boon Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Boon Elementary runs a Gifted and Talented program through Allen ISD. Given the school's high academic performance, GT enrollment here tends to be active. Families should reach out to the campus at (972) 396-6975 in the fall to ask about the evaluation timeline and referral process.
Q4. What community events has Boon Elementary participated in recently?
Ans. Boon Elementary participated in Allen ISD's Veterans Day campus celebrations in November 2025, where students honored veteran family members who visited the school. The campus also benefits from the Allen ISD STEAM Center, which gives Boon students access to specialized science and technology programming beyond what's available on the standard elementary campus.
Q5. What middle and high schools do Boon Elementary students attend?
Ans. Dr E T Boon Elementary students continue to Ereckson Middle School, then on to Allen High School. Both campuses regularly find themselves at the top of the list for schools in Collin County. The move from Boon to Ereckson is a familiar path for students within the Allen ISD.
