Elementary education is thriving in Conway, South Carolina, part of the Horry County Schools district, with 28 elementary schools currently open and 2 more expected to open in 2025. State assessments for grades 3–8 consistently show that students in Conway are performing at a level above the state average. For example, 64% of students in Grades 3–8 received a level 4 rating in English Language Arts, an achievement not surpassed in the district since the inception of the test. Conway Elementary (B+) and South Conway Elementary (A–) both maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio of 13:1–15:1, as well as high rates of proficiency in both mathematics and reading. Thanks in large part to community collaboration and an overall spirit of creativity, Conway truly shines in that it is undeniably home to some of the very best elementary schools in South Carolina.
