About Steel Academy

Steel Academy is a public alternative high school in Akron, Ohio. It is part of the Akron Public Schools system and serves mostly students in grades 9–12. The school has a small number of students and a low student-to-teacher ratio of about 12:1. This means that teachers can keep a closer eye on students, give them personalized instruction, and make sure they get the help they need in school. About 3% of students are good at math and 8% are good at reading. This shows that they have a lot of trouble with schoolwork and that they need a lot of help with their skills. As a public school, the money it gets and spends on each student comes from the state and the district. Students in Ohio take state tests and can also take college entrance exams like the SAT or ACT through their district. Steel Academy is known for its small class sizes, individualized support system, and dedication to helping at-risk students move closer to graduation.
