OhioGÇÖs elementary education system offers families a solid start to looking for the best elementary schools in Ohio. With nearly 4,000 public elementary schools and 1,300 private schools, families have a host of options, all offering high-quality learning environments. Ohio has consistently performed well on national benchmarks, ranking around the top 15 states in fourth-grade reading and math (NAEP). The level of attention each child will receive is aided by a solid student-teacher ratio of 17:1. Ohio uses a transparent School Report Card system, has a growing number of magnet programs, and an increasing number of community school opportunities, making it easy to find other schools that have done well academically, with enrichment and student readiness.
