Fort Wayne, Indiana’s second-largest city, blends Midwestern charm with urban development. Known for its historic neighborhoods and riverfront revival, Fort Wayne is also the birthplace of actor Shelley Long and NBA star Deshaun Thomas. The city is served by Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS), one of the largest districts in the state. While top schools like Snider High School show strong graduation rates, the district faces academic disparities, with reading and math proficiency rates below the state average—around 40-45% in many elementary schools. Efforts are underway to expand early learning and STEM programs.
