Being Updated
Students at Brookview Elementary helped plant Iowa’s first “mini-forest”, working with community partners to create a densely planted native tree area. The mini-forest project is not just environmental — it’s also an educational initiative, with Iowa State University’s forestry department supporting lesson plans and research. As of November 2025, the mini-forest has grown significantly: trees like sycamores are already around 9 feet tall, showing strong community and student engagement.
