With the support of the University of Iowa's College of Education, Iowa creates a solid foundation for the learning experience of young children in the state's elementary schools. Students are at the centre of the learning experience in Iowa. In addition to the student-centred philosophy and innovative teaching models employed by school districts across Iowa, the training of highly trained educators (i.e. teachers) is another component of a high-quality education in Iowa. Providing enhanced opportunities for students who qualify for gifted education programs and for young children through early literacy programs, and supporting every aspect of the child's development are characteristics of Iowa school districts. Iowa's Focusing on Continuous Improvement and emphasis on the development of safe and nurturing learning environments and the ability to tailor instruction to meet the specific needs of each student helps to set elementary students in Iowa up to be well prepared to succeed in the future.
