About Columbia Elementary School

Columbia Elementary is one of Alabama's premier Elementary Schools that combines its academic distinction with space legacy. Columbia opened its doors in 2004 to honor the crew of the Columbia space shuttle, in deference to Madison's strong connection to space and aerospace. Columbia Elementary serves over 750 students from Pre-K to 5th grade in a caring environment providing students with the opportunity to exceed the state's achievement levels of about 65% proficiency in math & 76% proficiency in reading. The school's mascot, the Astros, and our motto "Always Striving To Reach Our Stars," sets an expectation throughout Columbia for achievement and character. Families appreciate Columbia's committed teachers, involved community, and academic achievement, all contributing to its effectiveness as a premier Elementary School in Alabama.
