Located in Decatur, Eastwood Elementary School has an enrollment of approximately 450 students in Pre-K through 5th grade, along with a student-teacher ratio of about 17:1, with approximately 26 teachers making up the full-time faculty. The academic performance of students is consistently strong, as approximately 75% of students are proficient readers and around 65% reach grade level on mathematics achievement tests. The student body is racially diverse, with approximately 45% of students identified as White, 35% identified as Black, 15% identified as Hispanic, and 5% identified as other, and about one-third of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. In addition to certified classroom teachers, the Eastwood staff consists of intervention specialists and support staff who specialize in a wide range of individualized learning opportunities, enrichment programs, and social-emotional learning opportunities. Median home values of the local housing market range from approximately $215–235K, indicating a stable, involved community.
