Denny Yasuhara Middle School students in the "Brainwave Buddies" club were praised in early 2026 for their unique peer-mentorship work with neurodiverse students.
The school community gathered for a major assembly where more than 700 students received inspirational sweatshirts donated by the Hifumi En Society.
The campus was recently spotlighted for its architectural excellence, winning a 2025 award for its innovative and sustainable wood-based design.

Ans. The school pays tribute to a local teacher and civil rights leader who fought for fairness and justice in the area.

Ans. This unique peer-mentorship club matches students with each other to encourage neurodiversity and make the campus friendlier and more understanding.

Ans. The building won awards for its unique wood-based design and its commitment to being eco-friendly and energy-efficient.

Ans. The community gives a lot of money, like school spirit clothes, to help people feel like they belong and are proud of where they live.
