Indian River High School is a public high school in Chesapeake, Virginia. It is part of the Chesapeake City Public Schools division and serves students in grades 9–12. The school has about 1,400 to 1,500 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 17:1, which helps create a structured and interesting place to learn. Indian River High School is one of seven high schools in the district and it is among the best high school in Virginia. The school has a lot of different academic options, such as Advanced Placement (AP) classes and tests. 16% of students take AP classes. There are also honors classes, career and technical education pathways, and extracurricular activities that help students get ready for college and work. The student body is made up of people from many different backgrounds. About 76% of students are minorities, and about 83% economically disadvantaged. For the 2025–2026 school year, academic performance indicators show that 80% of students are good at math and 87% of students are good at reading (ELA). Students also take the SAT and ACT tests to help them plan for college.

Indian River High School's boys' football team recently won a game against Green Run High School with a score of 20-14. The school's football team has been on a roll, winning games against Hickory High School and Cox High School. The school is also focusing on students' academic success by planning a variety of events and activities. During National Assistant Principals Week, the school's Assistant Principals were honored for their hard work and support.
