About North High School

In Akron, Ohio, North High School is a public school that serves students in grades 9 through 12. It is a part of the Akron Public Schools system. There are usually between 1,000 and 1,200 students at the school, and there are usually about 18 students for every teacher. Our students come from all kinds of backgrounds, just like the diverse urban community around us. Many of them are minorities and come from families with different amounts of money. Only about 10% of students are good at math and about 29% are good at reading. This just shows that we still have work to do to make our teaching and support for students better. Because we are a public school, the state and district give us money to run the school. We make sure to use those resources in programs that help kids who are having trouble and also keep students interested and involved. According to the school's testing plans, students usually take Ohio state tests and sometimes college entrance exams like the SAT or ACT.
