Hattiesburg, which is known as "The Hub City," has about 48,000 people and a culture that is heavily shaped by its two major universities. For four years in a row, the public high school system has received the states highest "A" rating, which shows that students are making a lot of progress in school. The districts main goal is STEAM education, and more than 96% of students graduate. Students get individual attention because the student-to-teacher ratio is low at 12:1. The city is great for families because it has an intellectual atmosphere and a school system that is known for its strict teaching style and ability to get students ready for both college and work.
