With about 2,400 students, the school has a student-to-teacher ratio of about 20:1, which helps create a full academic environment. Homestead High School is known as one of the best schools in the area. It also has honors classes and career-focused pathways. There is a moderate amount of diversity among the students, with about 25% of them being minorities and about 21% being economically disadvantaged. Around 49% of students met the math proficiency standards for the 2025–2026 school year, and about 69% met the English Language Arts standards. The school gives the SAT and ACT tests, and the average scores are higher than the state standards. The amount of money spent on each student is in line with district standards. Homestead High School is in a well-respected suburban area with higher median home values. It continues to show promise through its academic rigor and college readiness.

As of 2026, almost all of Homestead High School's $169 million renovation project is done. The school now has modernized academic wings and specialized areas like the Spartan Success Center. The school's media program recently won several top awards at the state level, including being named School of the Year in several categories, such as news and emerging media. The athletic department is also doing well. This January, the gymnastics team won the Carter Classic title again, and student-athletes set new personal bests in regional competitions.
