The Southwest Florida Juvenile Detention Center is currently using targeted Title I funding to provide extra math lessons and one-on-one tutoring to all of its students. The center's curriculum is based on trauma-informed principles and combines mental health support with structured academic activities to help kids keep learning while they are there for a short time. Recent efforts include new transition planning services that help young people make the transition from detention to going back to their local high schools or job programs.
