This high school is one of the best in Aurora Joint District No. 28 because it helps students get ready for college and do well in school. There are about 21 students for every teacher at the school, which is a good number of students for each teacher. 91% of the students are from minority groups, and 84% of them are economically disadvantaged. Gateway High School has Advanced Placement® classes, and 16% of students take them. The numbers showed that 28% of students were good at reading and 10% were good at math in the 2026 school year. The school is still one of the best at creating a community that values different points of view and practical academic paths, with an emphasis on success and inclusion.

Gateway High School is currently working on its "Olympians Lead" program, which aims to include civic leadership and community service in the 2026 core curriculum. The school recently made improvements to its sports facilities, such as getting new equipment for the fitness center and updating the locker rooms. Also, students in the performing arts program are getting ready for their spring theater production after a successful series of winter choral shows.
