South Gate, which is sometimes called the "Azalea City," is a busy, densely populated area in Los Angeles County with about 92,000 people. It is just south of downtown Los Angeles and has a fast-paced urban lifestyle that is deeply rooted in Latino culture and the city industrial history. The Los Angeles Unified School District serves most of the city. It has several high schools that focus on academic resilience, multiculturalism, and preparing students for college. The local school system has received significant funding, and some campuses have even earned the title of California Distinguished Schools for their success in closing achievement gaps. Families should move to the city for cheaper housing and more parks.
