El Cajon, which means "The Box" in Spanish, is in a valley in San Diego County and has about 105,000 people living there. It is a busy, diverse city with a mix of suburban neighborhoods and a lively downtown. There are more than 60 public schools and 20 private schools in the city, so families have many options for where to send their kids. Vocational training, STEM, and support services for refugees are all very important in the high school system, as they help to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds receive the education and resources they need to succeed in a multicultural environment.
