Daly City, which is about 100,000 people strong, is known as the "Gateway to the Peninsula." It has a lively mix of city and suburban life just south of San Francisco. High school in the city is known for its high academic standards and wide range of cultures. Several local schools are known for their tough college prep programs, and a few of them are among the best in the San Francisco Bay Area for diversity. Digital arts, science, and a lot of extracurricular clubs are some of the focus areas.
