About Service High School

People say that Service High School is one of the best schools in Anchorage. It gives students in grades 9–12 a full public education. There are 21 high schools in the Anchorage School District, and this one has about 1,500 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 19:1. The school is one of the best when it comes to academic rigor; 37% of students take Advanced Placement® classes. There are students from a lot of different backgrounds at the school. There are 60% of students who are minorities and 26% who come from families with low incomes. For the 2025–2026 school year, the school said that 23% of its students were good at math and 32% were good at reading. The campus is known for its Biomedical Career Pathway, which is very specific, and for its strong sports traditions. The district gives it about $16,778 for each student. Service High School has a great curriculum that gets students ready for college and a lot of different jobs in a friendly community, and it is one of the best high school in Alaska.

Service High School is currently focusing on its hands-on learning pathways, where students in the auto body and woodworking programs are getting real-world experience by restoring cars and working on complicated crafts projects. The campus is getting ready for the 2026 graduation ceremony, which will be held on May 11 at the Alaska Airlines Center. This is a big deal for the senior class. The school also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, such as a cultural arts club that recently put on a play with original student set designs.
