Being Updated
West Valley City School received praise in late 2025 for its highly successful project-based learning model, which saw record levels of student engagement.
The school's unique four-day student schedule was spotlighted by educational leaders as an effective strategy for preventing student and teacher burnout in 2026.
Q1. How does the four-day school week work for kids?
Ans. Students go to intensive, project-based classes from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, teachers work together and students study on their own.
Q2. What is the main goal of project-based learning at West Valley City School?
Ans. Students work on long-term, cross-disciplinary projects that use science, history, and the arts to solve real-world problems.
Q3. Are there fewer students than in a regular middle school?
Ans. Yes, the school has a small, close-knit group of about 210 students to give each student more individual academic attention.
Q4. How does the school encourage students to be leaders and responsible citizens?
Ans. Students must do community service projects on a regular basis to improve their leadership skills and commitment to doing good for the community.
Q5. Does the school provide individualized academic assistance to every student?
Ans. Because the school is small, teachers can make individualized learning plans that meet the unique academic needs of each student.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
