On September 10, 2025, Longfellow Middle School finished renovations on its campus and held a public ribbon-cutting ceremony. The improvements included new classrooms, science labs, and collaborative learning spaces, as well as a new athletic building with two gyms and a weight room, renovated locker rooms, and a new outdoor field for soccer and football. The improvements added more academic, athletic, and outdoor spaces to help students learn and have fun on campus.
Q1. What makes Longfellow Middle School in San Antonio different from other schools?
Ans. Longfellow Middle has a rotating schedule, which means that class times change from day to day. This system means that each subject has a different time slot during the week.
Q2. How does Longfellow Middle ensure that students are responsible for their reading?
Ans. Longfellow Middle provides students reading logs where they write down the pages they read, summarize the main ideas, and send in entries on a regular basis for the teacher to look over and talk about.
Q3. What kind of engagement model does Longfellow Middle use?
Ans. Longfellow Middle has academic team challenges where groups work together to solve problems in a set amount of time and then go over the answers together after each task.
Q4. How does Longfellow Middle help families keep track of their children's progress?
Ans. Longfellow Middle holds progress conferences where teachers talk to families about grades, missing work, and how to improve.
Q5. How does Longfellow Middle School share news about the school?
Ans. Longfellow Middle School lets parents see campus calendars through parent portals. This lets families keep track of testing dates, grading periods, and events that are coming up.
