Bexar Co J J A E P (Bexar County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program) is a public high school in San Antonio, Texas that serves students in grades 6–12 and is specialized for students with behavioral problems. The school is well-known as one of the best in the area because of its highly structured and disciplined approach to helping students get back on track with their studies and behavior. The school keeps a low student-to-teacher ratio, usually around 10:1, to make sure that each student gets the attention they need. Bexar Co J J A E P has a diverse student body, with a large number of students from minority groups and a large number of students who are economically disadvantaged. The STEP UP Texas program is bringing new restorative practices to the Bexar County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) in San Antonio. This will help make the campus a better place to be and improve relationships between staff and students. As part of a larger commitment to specialized growth, the facility recently got a new gym and an improved infirmary to better serve the students. Students are also taking part in unique experiential learning opportunities, like the "Champs" program, which focuses on horses and gives them hands-on skill-building to help them take responsibility for themselves.
