Talkington School for Young Women Leaders is a public magnet school in Lubbock, Texas, for girls in grades 6–12. It helps kids get ready for college, become better leaders, and be better people. There are about 456 students at the school, and 14 students are assigned to each teacher. This means that every student can get the help they need in a safe place. Talkington says that students will do better after high school if they take hard classes, Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and have chances to be leaders. There are students of many races and ethnicities, such as Hispanic, White, African American, Asian, and multiracial. The school does very well in school. The school's average is much higher than the state's: 84% of students are good at math and 95% are good at reading (ELA). Students take the SAT and ACT all the time to get into college, and the school's college-focused curriculum is shown by the high average scores. Talkington also has service learning, extracurricular activities, and leadership development, all of which help students grow as a whole.
