Gainesville is the county seat of Cooke County in North Texas, with a population of around 18,000, situated near the Oklahoma border about 65 miles north of Fort Worth along the I-35 corridor. The city is home to several independently operated school districts including Gainesville ISD, Callisburg ISD, Sivells Bend ISD, and Walnut Bend ISD, each serving distinct geographic communities within the county. Gainesville ISD runs a split-campus elementary structure with Edison Elementary handling the youngest grades, W.E. Chalmers serving second through fourth, and Gainesville Intermediate for fifth and sixth grade.
