Parkland Pre-Engineering Middle special education teacher Alejandro de la Peña Jr. was named a finalist for the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award in the Leadership category. He received a $1,000 personal check and a $1,000 grant for the school as part of the recognition. The award acknowledged his leadership and brought additional funding to the campus.
