In October of 2025, Duncanville ISD celebrated National Principals Month, with emphasis placed on the leaders in the district schools, including Merrifield Elementary school, whose civic duty and leadership program makes the school unique. The district additionally encouraged participants to take part in the 2025-2026 Needs Assessment Survey.
