Dickinson is an emerging suburb of the city of Houston and is located on the Gulf Coast, near Galveston, Texas, in Galveston County. It has a population of approximately 22,000, and residents are served by many public elementary and intermediate schools operated by Dickinson Independent School District (DISD), as well as many junior high schools and one comprehensive high school. The primary goal of the DISD is to help students succeed academically and to provide them with equitable and bilingual education and career and technical pathways.
