Being Updated
Lost Pines Elementary welcomed Lezlie Ringstaff as its principal for the 2025-26 school year, bringing new leadership to the Explorers campus. BISD opened Pre-K and kindergarten registration for 2026-27 in early 2026, which applies to Lost Pines as one of the campuses that draws its youngest students through the early childhood enrollment cycle. The school's STARS After School Program continued running through the year, providing structured after-school care for families in the Tiger Woods Drive attendance area.
Q1. Why does Lost Pines Elementary only go up to 4th grade?
Ans. Lost Pines Elementary serves Pre-K through 4th grade rather than PK-5, which is less common in BISD. Fifth graders from this attendance zone transition to one of the BISD intermediate campuses for their final elementary years.
Q2. Does Lost Pines Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Lost Pines Elementary does offer a Gifted and Talented program through Bastrop ISD. With the best student-teacher ratio in BISD at 13:1, GT students at Lost Pines have more consistent teacher contact than at larger district campuses.
Q3. What does the mascot name "Explorers" mean for Lost Pines?
Ans. The Explorers mascot at Lost Pines Elementary connects the school to the broader identity of the Lost Pines region, which refers to the isolated loblolly pine forest near Bastrop that is separated from the main East Texas pine belt.
Q4. What support is available for families at Lost Pines Elementary?
Ans. Lost Pines Elementary participates in BISD's STARS After School Program and has a full-time counselor on campus. Given that 89% of students are from economically disadvantaged households, the school also connects families to BISD's broader social services and community support programming.
Q5. How does Lost Pines Elementary communicate with families?
Ans. Lost Pines Elementary uses BISD's Family Access system for grades, attendance, and records.
