Weekly newsletters from Barton Hill Elementary School called “Eagle Update” are providing students with a wide range of activities to do during their time at BHE through March 2026. Each week, these newsletters highlight non-academic and extracurricular events available for students on their website, along with an active calendar that lists both student opportunities and district sponsored events happening around the Barton Hill community. Recently, these updates have included details about spring reading events, summer campus challenges, and other opportunities for families to participate in school.
Q1. Are there any special academic programs at Barton Hills Elementary?
Ans. The school offers enrichment opportunities like gifted and talented (GT) services and puts a lot of emphasis on arts and project-based learning.
Q2. What kinds of transport do students have?
Ans. Austin ISD rules say that eligible students can take the bus, but many families in the area also walk or bike because the Barton Hills El is in the middle of the city.
Q3. What can parents do to help at Barton Hills Elementary?
Ans. Parents can get involved by joining the PTA, volunteering, going to fundraising events, and taking part in other community activities that the school runs.
Q4. Are there programs that kids can do before or after school?
Ans. Yes, The Barton Hills El has after-school care and enrichment programs that include help with schoolwork, fun activities, and supervised child care.
Q5. What kinds of things can you do on campus?
Ans. Barton Hills Elementary School has classrooms, a library, playgrounds, and places for arts and physical activities, all of which help make elementary school a well-rounded experience.
