Alton, Texas has a unique culture of elementary education which is typical of the growing city of Alton, Texas that houses about 18,000 people and has a very family-oriented Hispanic culture. The primary provider of education to the citizens is Mission Consolidated Independent School District which runs various public elementary schools in the city including Alton, Cantu, Cavazos, and Waitz Elementary among others. Class sizes are quite moderate in the Mission Consolidated Independent School District ranging at about 15:1 ratio. The district also focuses heavily on providing bilingual education as well as academic and programmatic support. Although some of these schools rank averagely according to the state ratings, they strive to provide better results through focused instruction.
