Wissahickon Charter School recently expanded its environmental education mission by creating a functional rain garden where students can study local ecology, sustainability, and water conservation through hands-on learning experiences. Guided by the school’s outdoor-focused educational approach, students actively participated in designing and maintaining the space. Graduating eighth-grade students also finalized plans for a sustainable community garden project intended to provide fresh vegetables to local food pantries. These positive initiatives continue to strengthen environmental stewardship, student leadership, and community service opportunities throughout the school community.
