The Norman Public Schools Board approved bids for major upgrades at Wilson Elementary School in February 2025. The approved projects include making the restrooms and other parts of the building more accessible to people with disabilities. These are part of a larger district-wide plan that includes several elementary schools. Also, thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), Wilson Elementary is one of the Norman Public Schools campuses that now offers free breakfast and lunch to all students. But in July 2025, the district said in a statement that it had not received formal guidance from the state on broader meal mandates. These include stricter security measures and a rule that students must always have their school IDs on them. These changes at Wilson show that the school is focused on both improving its infrastructure and making sure that students are safe and healthy.
