The Norman Public Schools (NPS) Board approved bids for construction work in early 2025. This work will include renovations at Washington Elementary School. As part of a district-wide improvement plan, these upgrades will make the facilities more accessible, modernize the restrooms, and make other general improvements. At the same time, the district is also putting student safety first by approving new policies that will better control who can visit the campus and how safe it is. News 9+1 Along with these steps, Norman Public Schools has put in place more general safety measures, like making sure that all students wear visible ID badges. This shows that the district is still focused on making learning safe. Washington Elementary is also part of a larger effort in the district to improve STEM education. NPS recently received a large donation to improve science, technology, engineering, and math labs at the elementary level. These changes—better facilities, stricter safety rules, and more support for STEM—show that Norman Public Schools (including Washington Elementary) are working hard to improve infrastructure, keep students safe, and give them more academic opportunities.
