Q1. What are the immunization requirements for Kindergarten students?

Ans. Kindergarten students must have the following vaccines: 4+ DTaP, 3+ Polio, 2 MMR, 3 Hepatitis B, and 2 Varicella (chickenpox).

Q3. What is a Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan (RIMP)?

Ans. Students in grades K–3 who score below the grade-level cut score on the NWEA MAP Reading test are placed on a RIMP. This plan outlines the specific interventions and support provided to help improve literacy skills. Parents are notified by the classroom teacher if their child is placed on a RIMP.

Q3. How does student drop-off and pick-up work?

Ans. Parents dropping off students should do so in front of the building. However, the school encourages families to use the provided bus transportation whenever possible for convenience and safety.

Q4. Does Northwestern Elementary have a playground?

Ans. Yes. The school features an outdoor play area with blacktop, mulch, and grassy sections. Students are expected to go outside for recess in suitable weather unless they have a doctor’s note excusing them.

Q5. Can students bring valuable items to school?

Ans. Students are discouraged from bringing valuable items such as jewelry, trading cards, electronics, or expensive clothing. The school cannot guarantee their safety and will not be responsible for lost or damaged items.
