This week, Scottwood Elementary School marked a major expansion of its tech integration program, offering students daily access to 1:1 digital devices in all core subjects. The school is touting its popular “Scottwood Stars” program, which allows students to have a say in campus decisions and spirit events. The campus also recently cut the ribbon on its refurbished “Discovery Lab,” which is designed to support cutting-edge STEM and engineering research projects.
Q1. What is the dress code for Scottwood Elementary School students?
Ans. The uniform dress code calls for tan, navy or black pants, capris, shorts, skirts or skorts (no denim) and plain white, light blue, yellow or pink collared shirts.
Q2. How does Scottwood Elementary School help students that don’t speak English?
Ans. The school has a full ESL department to meet the needs of students from 26 different countries around the world.
Q3. What special reading programs does the school use to improve literacy?
Ans. Scottwood uses the HMH Into Reading program and K-2 students get additional instruction in Fundations Phonics and Heggerty phonemic awareness.
Q4. What does the future hold? What opportunities are there for Scottwood’s gifted and talented students?
Ans. All K-2 students are in the PETS program and students who need further enrichment are given specialized pull-out services.
Q5. What student activities and field trips does Scottwood Elementary provide?
Ans. Students take part in annual talent shows and concerts, and field trips to places like BIZtown, COSI and the Columbus Art Museum.
