Being Updated
Local community members were treated to student-created stage sets and original research presentations at Olde Orchard Alt Elementary School's annual "Alternative Inquiry" showcase recently. The campus is marking its new community partnership with a regional arts organization that offers exclusive, behind-the-scenes workshops and professional mentorship for elementary scholars. In addition, students are using a brand new digital media lab to explore graphic design and video editing as part of their projects.
Q1. What special literacy training do teachers at Olde Orchard Alternative Elementary School receive?
Ans. Eighty percent of teachers are trained in a literacy collaborative reading and writing program, using cutting-edge instructional strategies developed through dynamic professional development.
Q2. What is “Author Visit” day at Olde Orchard Alternative Elementary School?
Ans. It is an annual event where nationally recognized authors and illustrators visit the school to interact with students and inspire their creative work.
Q3. How do students at Olde Orchard Alternative Elementary School participate in community service?
Ans. All students participate in Penny Harvest, a year-long service learning project where the school has been recognized as a model program.
Q4. What are the arrival procedures for students at Olde Orchard Alternative Elementary School?
Ans. School doors open at 8:45 AM, and students are expected to be in their seats by 9:00 AM. Students arriving after 9:10 AM must report to the office for a late slip.
Q5. Does Olde Orchard Alternative Elementary School provide breakfast and lunch for students?
Ans. Yes, breakfast is free for all students and is sent home via an opt-in form. Lunch service is also provided daily with a variety of meal options available through the school app.
